Health data is among the most sensitive personal data. The deployment of a French health data platform, the Health Data Hub, therefore raises unprecedented questions of technological sovereignty, and the potential creation of a European health data area will raise others. To answer this, we need to rethink what a “health data producer” is and recognize that these data are “co-produced” by caregivers and patients.
In the digital world, data often becomes a computer problem with a technical solution. But will patients be mere “producers” of health data, like a fruit-bearing tree?
