Television increases the risk of dementia

Who would imagine sitting on their couch to watch a good movie, a hit TV series or an exotic report that they are working against their long-term interests? However, a study published Monday in PNAS (Proceedings of the American Academy of Sciences) establishes a direct link between time spent in front of a small screen and the risk of developing dementia over the past 60 years.

The scientific community has already shown that a sedentary lifestyle, meaning little or no physical activity, contributes to and accelerates the onset of dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. And what more sedentary situation can you imagine than sitting in front of the screen for several hours?
