Rio de Janeiro intends to vaccinate 90% of the priority group in the city of Rio de Janeiro
Influenza vaccination already occurs in several places in the country. In the city of Rio de Janeiro, the last week of April was intended to immunize elderly people over 60 years of age, but the schedule has been changedin which the group can receive the vaccine earlier than expected.
VACCINATION OF ELDERLY OVER 60 YEARS OLD STARTS THIS MONDAY, 11
The flu immunization campaign in the city of Rio de Janeiro began last week, in which only the group of elderly people over 80 years old could be vaccinated. This week the campaign would be extended to people over 70, but with a change in the calendar, people over 60 can now get vaccinated from this Monday, 11, until April 30.
The change also includes all health professionals of all ages, according to the Municipal Health Department. Before, only elderly professionals in the area were receiving the dose of the flu vaccine. The municipality’s goal is to vaccinate 90% of the priority group by June 3.
The priority group for this campaign is composed of: elderly, health professionals, children from 6 months to 5 years old, pregnant women, postpartum women, lactating women, people with disabilities, indigenous people and the chronically ill. Also included: education workers, prisoners, prison system, ports, security, passenger and cargo transport and members of the armed forces.
