Ukrainian refugees arrive in Poland with serious health conditions

Refugees arrive at shelters without medication to treat illnesses such as cancer and heart problems

The war in Ukraine has caused a deep refugee crisis in Europe. Ukrainians who manage to leave their homes and their country go to Poland, where many arrive with serious health conditions, whether physical or mental. “What we see most are refugees who arrive at the border dehydrated, decompensated, with mental health problems, a strong emotional burden, also cases of people with fever, pneumonia or diarrhea”said a member of the United Nations.

REFUGEES ARRIVE WITH WOUNDS FROM BOMBINGS AND EVEN WITHOUT MEDICATION TO TREAT DISEASES

THE CNN, Jorge Dienerdirector of Hadassah International reported that many of the refugees arrive at the shelters even without medication to treat health problems such as cancer. According to Diener, there are up to four calls a day from doctors who are in Israel, specializing in heart disease, for example.

“The profile is of people who arrive at the border with their lives broken”: this is the director’s description of the overwhelming scenario of civilians who fled Russian attacks in Ukraine. According to the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR), there are more than 4.5 million Ukrainian refugees since the beginning of the invasion.

On the internet, images of Ukrainians injured or killed by Russian bombings shocked the world. In fact, because of these attacks, many refugees even arrive with injuries.
