The dog rescued by “Hunger Games” actress Jenna Malone when she was beaten has suffered another catastrophe, a friend of the owner said Thursday.

Melon first shouted from the car to stop, then followed him on foot. He was with five men looking for a man with a bruised puppy, he wrote. He then got back in the car and went to where the men surrounded the suspect who no longer had a dog.
A fight broke out between the men and rescuers when they tried to catch the animal, but Malone said he could not see it. The video was broadcast on NBC Los Angeles (Look below) It showed men beating a suspect without a dog.
Police arrived, Malone said, and after claiming the dog, he waited for another officer to take the animal to the hospital.
“I can’t imagine the level of torture he endured at this stage,” he wrote.
According to NBC Los Angeles, the LAPD arrested a man suspected of animal cruelty, but did not accuse the group of “assaulting the man.”
The LAPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment from HuffPost.
Champ, a small shrub with soft white hair, disappeared within five days and joined owner Kelly McKinn. On the GoFundMe page, he has already broken his rib and hind leg in two places.

Update: the dog was damaged and returned with the owner. The dog has been missing for a week. His name was Champion and he was happy to get out of the hospital and be with the patron. Be careful to fund the link in advance. Its multiple operations will be taken care of by the owner alone
