In video, Pope Francis points out: “a good health service, accessible to all, is a priority”
The official Vatican YouTube channel, Vatican News, published this Tuesday, 5, an emotional video of Pope Francis making two requests to spectators. The first, that the faithful around the world pray for health professionals; the second, that government officials look more carefully at the health system of their populations.
“The pandemic showed us the dedication, generosity of health professionals, volunteers, health workers, priests, men and women religious”narrated the bishop of Rome, who continued: “But this pandemic has also made it clear that not everyone has access to a good public health system”.
Commenting on and showing images of the precariousness of the health system in poor communities, the Holy Father prayed: “Let us pray that the commitment of health professionals to care for the sick and elderly, especially in the poorest countries, is supported by governments and local communities.”

The production featured scenes of health professionals serving in the most diverse places around the world, donating knowledge, care and love, including a Brazilian, the Dr. Erik Jennings Simõesa doctor who takes care of indigenous people in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic.
In an interview with GQ, Dr. Erik, who serves the Zo’é people, in northwest Pará, said: “Covid-19 has had a very serious impact on indigenous populations in several aspects. […] In terms of culture, the main one is the loss of older people who are the great source of knowledge for these peoples”.

In an article about the professional trajectory of the doctor, published on the website Aventuras na História, in August 2021, the portal presented: “The Zo’é population is estimated at around 320 individuals, who occupy 18 villages in the region between the Cuminapanema and Erepecuru rivers. only three decades, but still maintaining its forms of social and territorial organization”.
