Association explains if drop in production could mean the end of masks
In several Brazilian cities, masks are no longer mandatory in open, closed or both environments. If at the beginning of the pandemic the demand for the resource was so high that it was lacking, today, the scenario is different: according to the National Association of the Safety and Protection Material Industry at Work (Animaseg), PFF2 masks against covid-19 had a 30% drop in production since the beginning of the year.
IS THE USE OF MASKS COMING TO THE END?
The covid-19 pandemic proved profound changes in society’s habits, and one of them was the use of masks, which was not even present in the daily lives of many countries. THE CNN, Animaseg believes that this product will not cease to exist in the life of Brazilians in the way it was before the outbreak of the disease, even with the release laws.
“People were educated (for this use). These masks protect, in addition to covid, from any virus and bacteria”said the executive director of the association, Raul Casanova Junior. Yet, according to the director, in 2021 the demand for these masks has already dropped, but the Ômicron variant caused demand to increase, especially at its peak, and then it dropped again..
“There are other factors that make us believe that this fall is offset. With the end of the state of emergency, our manufacturers will be able to export again. We already feel that there are countries interested in options for the Chinese market and Brazil is one of those that have the capacity to supply”said Raul to CNN.
