Gilles de la Tourette syndrome. beware of caricature.

This is the extreme of tics, affecting 0.5 to 1% of French people. Described on the 19the century by the French neuropsychologist Gilles de la Tourette, the syndrome of the same name is often associated with one or more mental disorders (ADHD, OCD, autism, etc.). But beware of the caricature images that commonly accompany Gilles de la Tourette syndrome, or TS. “Not all of them are serious, coprolalia (insult) or copropraxis (obscene gestures) are not automatic.”explains Dr: Andreas Hartmann, neurologist (SGT Reference Center of Pitié-Salpêtrière, Paris).
