Cases was looking for a sweet dog in Wisconsin that was found tied to a fire hydrant in the Green Bay area, along with a backpack full of dog supplies and a note of request from its former owner.
“The record states that her name is Baby Girl and her owner has a serious health problem and she can no longer afford to care,” Angela Speed, spokeswoman for the Wisconsin Humane Society, told HuffPost. “The note asked for the child’s help.”
The big backpack next to Baby Girl was full of food, toys, and dishes. According to WFRV CBS Regional Affiliate.
A passing woman, Kylie Rose Engelhart, saw the baby on Sunday and took a picture of the waiting dog with a fire hydrant. Engelhart waited with Baby Girl if anyone came back for her, but was eventually taken to the WHS “Green Bay” shelter.
The Baby Girl story caught attention not only because of the offensive photo that went viral, but also because of a heartbreaking Facebook post from the Animal Rescue Organization.
The post begins with a community update on Baby Girl, which says it “works well” in shelter care.
“As her story gets local and overseas, we wanted to take a moment to reach out to the former owner of Baby Girl,” the post stated.
“First of all, we’re sorry you had to break up with your best friend,” he continued. “It’s obvious how much you love him and we’ve seen that you did everything you could when you were struggling with your medical complications and life challenges.”
The shelter lists the reasons why Baby Girl’s former owner is obviously trying to do what she thinks is best for their beloved dog.
“We see your love in a bag you carefully packed with her favorite things,” the shelter post read. “We see your love in the way you strengthened his family so the car did not collide. We see your love in the way you put it in the middle of the neighborhood where it was quickly found. We see your love for how happy and healthy a girl looks. And we see your love for the record you left, begging to help you when you can no longer. “
That said, WHS encourages people who can no longer afford to take care of pets to take them to a shelter instead of leaving them outside.
“You will be greeted at the door with the same compassion and respect we bring to our caring pets,” Speed said. “We don’t want anyone to hesitate to ask for our services.”
Engelhart told HuffPost that “he hasn’t done anything wrong” to the former owner of Baby Girl and he wants “everyone to focus on Baby Girl’s love and find a new loving home to thrive on!”
This is probably not difficult for Baby Girl, who is about 6 years old and “loving and enjoyable,” according to Speed.
“She’s a fun woman who loves to walk, play with toys and is excited about having the perfect‘ chair ’for dishes,” Speed said.
The newborn is expected to be adopted “in the next few days” after undergoing an additional visit to the veterinarian. Meanwhile, the shelter hopes its former owner will see the Facebook post and know that his dog is in good hands.
“We wish you all the best and hope that if you see it, you can relax a little knowing that your little girl has a great future,” read the Facebook post.
