Experts predict significant losses for film distribution in the amount of 11.1 billion rubles – 4.6 billion hryvnia.

Over the next two or three months, almost half of local cinemas in Russia could completely suspend their work. Russian Interfax writes about it in connection with the Association of Cinema Owners in the Russian Federation.

It was noted that after the largest American film studios – Sony, Warner Bros., Walt Disney Company and Universal, left the Russian market due to sanctions from the West, local cinemas began screening domestic films. . However, their income is almost half.

In particular, in March this year, the box office dropped by 44%, and the number of viewers of the film – by almost half.

Experts say that in the case of futility in saving the distribution of the film, this summer “no one will save.”

It should be noted that at the beginning of this year, more than 2,160 cinemas with 5,709 screens were registered in the Russian Federation. By mid -April, 36.4% of theaters were closed. This is attributed to the lack of Western repertoire.

Based on this trend, by the end of this year, experts predict significant losses for film distribution in the amount of 11.1 billion rubles – 4.6 billion hryvnias.

Recall that in some cinemas in Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Ivanovo, Chita and other cities of Russia began to conduct pirate screenings of foreign films.
