The director did the research. He will present his results in a new documentary film, which will air in February 2023 on the National Geographic Channel in honor of Valentine’s Day.
Hollywood director James Cameron proved that Jack of the Titanic could not have survived the film, contrary to what the audience has been saying for years to the contrary. The cinematographer spoke about this in an interview with the Toronto Sun.
Since 1997, when Titanic appeared on the screens, the audience was not satisfied with the ending, where the main character drowned, and his lover escaped through a wooden door. Many argued that if the girl moved, there would be enough space in the raft for both of them.
Cameron stubbornly argued all this time that Jack had to die for the sake of the tragedy of the moment, but now he confirmed his words in a scientific way.
During the experiment, the team, with the help of a specialist in hypothermia, recreated the same raft from the Titanic and conducted a thorough forensic examination, simulating the situation from the film.
So, two stuntmen, who weighed as much as Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet at the time of filming, were placed in cold water with a set of external and internal sensors. Studies have shown that only one person can survive in such a situation.
“He had to die. It’s like Romeo and Juliet. This is a film about love, sacrifice and mortality. Love is measured by sacrifice. Maybe in 25 years I won’t have to face it,” Cameron commented on Jack’s fate.
Remember that earlier researchers from Atlantic Productions were filming the Titanic. This is the first time in history that the ship has been captured on 4K video.
For the first time in history, the sinking of the Titanic was captured on video in 8K resolution
