The most difficult scene is the bloody rain scene in the fourth act of the film.
The creators of the television saga from Netflix on Wednesday said how they chose the makeup and images for the heroines. BuzzFeed writes about it.
Makeup and hairstylist Tara McDonald heads the look team.
“Of course I wanted to keep the original Wednesday, but also update his look. So Tim Burton really wanted him not to be a typical goth, but to be more fashionable. And so I started with the idea of not he should be extra. cosmetics,” he said.
To match the main character’s lipstick color, Tara and her team tested 15 different colors.
“For Wednesday’s lips, I wanted to go natural. And it looked like there was no lipstick on her lips,” Tara said.
And the makeup artist created Wednesday’s pale skin tone by mixing two different foundations that were a few shades lighter than Jenna Ortega’s skin tone.
“We applied different foundations to her. The makeup should always be matte. We didn’t want her to look radiant,” said the stylist.
Also, for sculpted lines, the makeup artist only contours certain parts of her face.
“It was contoured from the hollows of her cheeks to her temples to give an angular look,” added Tara.
He deliberately did not hide dark circles under Jenna’s eyes and did not apply concealer.
For the makeup of Morticia Addams, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, the makeup artist removed the overly white complexion and bright red lipstick, replacing it with a luscious plum color for a “glam gothic” effect.
“We put a lot of Clé de Peau foundation on her face and used Ardel false eyelashes. We used purple, smoky burgundy shades for the eye makeup. Tim Burton was delighted, he loves purple,” said the makeup artist.
This change took the most time.
“She came in in the morning and dried her hair with a hairdryer and then I did my makeup, which took over an hour. Then we put foundation on her arms, chest and neck,” Tara said, adding that she even extended her own hair. to achieve Morticia’s signature long black hair.
“We worked together to create this modern Morticia. And the hairstyle took an hour. So, Katherine spent more than two hours in the stylist’s chair,” the stylist said.
According to him, the most difficult scene was the bloody rain scene in the fourth episode of the series – some characters had to prepare spare wigs.
“We were promised that everything would be done in one take. Because when the paint went to the artists, it took too long to wash off the hair and skin. But, of course, they couldn’t do it in one take. So we had extra wigs for Enid (Emma Myers) and three or four different back-up wigs for Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie). So if they had blood, we just took it off and put it on the next one,” admitted the stylist.
