The ghosts of Christmas past, present and future didn’t seem to help Martin Short when he played Ebenezer Scrooge in a rendition of “A Christmas Carol” on “Saturday Night Live.”
The “SNL” co-host, no stranger to transforming into a Christmas character, rocked Scrooge’s iconic nightgown as he vowed to change before calling an orphaned boy off the street — played by cast member Sarah Sherman – to take it. a precious goose.
Short’s Scrooge tried to throw coins at the boy for the goose, but both ended up poking the boy in the eye.
“This crazy old man is putting coins in the eyes of orphans,” shouted an angry citizen played by Mikey Day.
“SNL” co-host Steve Martin, who plays the “Ghost of Christmas Presents,” later tries to control Scrooge, but is shocked by what he observes in the streets below his house.
