Fleetwood Mac lead singer Christine McVie died on Wednesday, September 30th. His family said in a statement that McVie died at the hospital surrounded by loved ones.
“Kristin McVie died peacefully in hospital on the morning of Wednesday, November 30, 2022, after a brief illness,” the statement said.
The life of the lead singer of Fleetwood Mac, who was the author of some of the group’s most famous hits, ended at the age of 79.
“There are no words to describe our sadness at the death of Christine McVie. She was truly one of a kind, special and talented. She was the best musician one could ever be in a band with and the best friend one could ever be.” We are very lucky to have lived with him. Individually and together, we treasure Christine deeply and are grateful for the amazing memories we have. We will miss her greatly,” the rock band said in a statement.
Christine McQueen wrote Fleetwood Mac songs such as Little Lies, Everywhere, Don’t Stop, Say You Love Me and Songbird.
Kristin began playing music professionally in the late 1960s and performed in several British blues bands, including singing with Spencer Davis and the Chicken Shack. She was a fan of Fleetwood Mac, and in 1968 she married its bass guitarist John McVie, taking his last name (at birth she was called Christine Perfect).
He joined Fleetwood Mac in 1971. He split with John McVie in 1976, but continued to perform with the group until 1998. In 2014, the soloist returned to the team.
Fleetwood Mac was one of the most popular rock bands in the world in the 1970s and 80s. His 1977 album Rumors was inspired by the turbulent lives of the McVies and the other couple in the band, lead guitarist Lindsey Bagingham and vocalist Stevie Nicks. This album is one of the best-selling in the history of rock music, with over 40 million copies sold worldwide.
