“Mine,” Roshdi Zem’s poignant truth-telling about a brother’s trauma

In this deeply personal sixth film, Roshdi Zem recounts how her brother’s brain injury changed her family dynamic.

Roshdi Zem’s sixth film (Bad faith, chocolate…) is also the most personal of all. in: Minethe actor-director tells how his brother’s head injury caused a disaster in the family.

Formerly soft and conciliatory, he really began to speak bluntly, imparting to everyone their four truths. Through this tragicomic story, written with Maiwen (also in the cast), the filmmaker questions the place assigned to each person in his clan, as well as the way social relations are formulated; “This story allows us to have social reflection is paramount,” he says. “How far can we go to tell his truth? Can we say everything? Shouldn’t we maintain a form of hypocrisy in order to live in society?
