Migos rapper Quavo mourned the loss of his nephew and bandmate Takeoff in a heartfelt tribute he posted on Instagram on Saturday.
The rapper reflected on the memories they shared growing up together in a lengthy letter he dedicated to the slain artist. Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was with Quavo when he was shot and killed outside a bowling alley in the early morning hours of November 1. He was 28 years old.
“Super quiet though, quietest in the room, but watch out for everything going on in the room, it’s always been that way!!!” Quavo wrote. “Nothing ever bothered Take and he never bothered anyone. She is the most relaxed person in the world.”
The letter continued: “He never got angry, never raised his voice, and when he did, he silenced the room because what Take said was law.”
Quavo, 31, later opened up about his relationship with Takeoff and how he previously couldn’t find the right title to describe their close bond because “uncle” didn’t feel close enough.
“Now I finally get it… you are OUR angel,” she said. (Read her full letter here.)

Takeoff, Quavo and Offset formed the Grammy Award-winning and trend-setting group Migos. The trio released their first mixtape in 2011.
Cardi B, who is married to Offset, paid tribute to Takeoff in an emotional message she posted on Instagram on Saturday.
“I’m taking off, your untimely passing has brought so much heartache and pain to so many lives,” she wrote. “The impact you have had on this world has been so considerable and we have struggled to come to terms with this tragedy.”
The “Up” rapper added that he was “broken” by her death.
A “Celebration of Life” ceremony was held Friday to honor the takeoff at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. Fans who were able to get free tickets to the limited-capacity event were able to attend.
Fans and celebrities continued to mourn Takeoff’s death on social media.
