Lindsay Lohan has considered the possibility of a “Mean Girls” remake, and she agrees. But the actor also has great reservations about messing with the original.
“I’ve always said yes, so it feels like a broken record,” the entertainer told Extra! in an article published Tuesday.
“The thing is, it’s so difficult [because] “Mean Girls is as beautiful as it is,” Lohan said of her only reservation about reimagining the iconic film. “It’s like, ‘Do you really want to mess with this?’ But you never know”.
In addition to the “Freaky Friday” actor wanting a sequel, co-stars Rachel McAdams (Regina George) and Daniel Franzese (Damien) have said they’re open to doing a sequel as well, if it’s ever in the works.

“I would do it. I absolutely would,” Franzese told David Yontef’s Behind the Velvet Rope podcast in August, adding that he “would do it in any form. This film brings so much joy to people, so I support it.”
The final decision ultimately rests with creator Tina Fey, who rejected the idea of making another film.
“We’ll see if there’s a way to bring everyone together, but unfortunately not a movie,” Fey told Extra! in 2014. “We’re all past high school age.”
While people want a sequel, there was actually a Mean Girls 2 TV movie released in 2011, but it didn’t star any of the original cast.
However, fans will be bringing a production of “Mean Girls” back to the big screen in the near future, as Fey promised in January 2020 that the Broadway musical would be adapted into a film. So come on!
