Stephen Colbert sounded puzzled Tuesday night that Republicans could take control of the House in the midterm elections.
“Has anyone heard of January 6?” churches. “Remember when the people who were elected today advocated a violent attack on our government? Have people forgotten the neckties, the horned shaman, the beating of the cops, the calls to hang the vice president? I missed something? ”
Colbert then played a clip of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), which was recorded that day, and described what some invaders left behind at the Capitol.
“Poop,” Pelosi said.
Colbert noted that if the GOP takes power, Pelosi will step down as speaker and likely be replaced by Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the current minority leader.
“A guy who goes on the record after Jan. 6 and calls for the former president to be removed from office,” Colbert said. “But instead, three weeks later, he took off his balls and hand-delivered them to Mar-a-Lago.”
