About 7 years after the disbandment, the group performed again at the Coachella festival.
Last Sunday, the 17th, the soloist CL made history at the Coachella music festival, which took place in California, United States, by bringing together all the members of 2NE1 on stage again to perform one of the biggest hits of the group “I AM THE BEST”.
This was the girl group’s first performance together since their official disbandment in 2016. Furthermore, 2NE1’s last performance took place at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, months before their disbandment, in the year 2015.
Therefore, returning to perform alongside CL, Park Bom and Sandara Parkafter about 7 years, minzi told what were the feelings he faced when sharing the stage again with former colleagues and members of the group:
“Being on stage together with all the other members for the first time in a long time, looking at the faces in the huge crowd, I felt happy, nostalgic and excited,” she recalled in an interview with StarNews. “It was a moment where I felt a lot of different emotions at the same time.”
The artist also revealed what she expected from the performance, while confessing to feeling worried if 2NE1 would be remembered:
“It was a performance we prepared with our fans in mind who have been waiting for a long time, so I thought people would like it, but part of me also worried that people would remember us. However, people ended up showing so much interest [em nossa reunião] which I am extremely grateful.”
Furthermore, Minzy told that he found out about the performance at Coachella on CL’s birthday, and revealed details about how the preparation for the event was and the topics that they talked about at the reunion:
“As we prepared for this performance, we shared our lives and how we were doing, and had serious conversations about our mindset on the performance and our feelings about the fans who were waiting for us. We made great memories as we prepared for the performance.”
“The four of us are grateful that we were able to put together a cool performance together as a group,” continued the artist. Soon after, she ended the statement by sharing the thoughts she had as she prepared for the performance:
“I thought to myself that this [performance] it was a page in the story of my life. We worked hard to do our best and put on a cool performance for the fans who have been waiting to see the four of us together – and remain unchanged in all their hearts.”
