The jury said the level of work was so high that it was difficult to decide between the reports.
The theme of Ukraine is the main one in almost all categories of the annual Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award for war correspondents. And Ukrainian journalists Mstislav Chernov and Evgeny Maloletka received an award in two categories for reporting from Mariupol, the press service reports.
“Together with my colleagues, I discovered works of absolute perfection. The level was so high that it was difficult to decide between the reports!”, – said the head of the award jury, German journalist Thomas Dvorak.
Chernov won in the “Video Image” nomination. The youth received an award in the “Photo” nomination.
“Journalism will always be less important than the suffering people. Not everyone was lucky enough to get out of Mariupol, but Evgeniy Maloyetka and I succeeded. The main thing is that we have the original photo and video material and we were able to share it with the whole world,” said Chernov.
In most award nominations this year, journalistic materials from Ukraine won.
