Presented at different stages of life, Joan collects both real and imagined memories. This allows for a lot of freedom and a lot of diversity in the cast. There was also a kind of weirdness in director Laurent Lariviere’s proposal that interested me, a romantic and literary aspect. But while the story is tragic, the tone of the film is not entirely dramatic.
