Pascal will play the character of Joel in the spin-off; check out the full statement!
Pedro Pascalthe actor who will star in the spin-off series of ‘The Last of Us’ playing the character Joel, told in an interview with GQ Magazine that the new production of HBO intends to honor the history of the game, but without neglecting creativity.
Without revealing details about the plot approach, pascal said that “There’s a very, very creative way to honor what’s important and also preserve what’s iconic to the video game experience, and also [incluir] things you wouldn’t necessarily expect. They’re doing some really smart stuff, that’s all I can say.”
In addition, the actor continued his response by mentioning ‘The Mandalorian’, the Disney+ series in which he plays the main role, comparing the works of the directors of both productions:
It’s similar to the way Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni treat The Mandalorian, the way [Craig Mazin e Neil Druckmann] are treating The Last of Us – the series is in good hands because they love the game so much.”
‘The Last of Us’ will be set 20 years after the extinction of the human species caused by a devastating virus. In this scenario, Joel is hired to take Ellie, a girl immune to the virus, out of the quarantine zone and go in search of a cure.
Besides pascalthe series will feature the actress Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) as Ellie to form the main duo. However, names like Gabriel Luna (Agents of SHIELD) and Anna Torv (Fringe) will also be part of the cast.
The production derived from the game developed by Naughty Dog does not have a confirmed premiere date, however, Casey BloysHBO boss said in an interview with Deadline that “…you’ll see this on 23 [ano de 2023]”. Therefore, fans of the franchise will have to wait until next year to check out the adaptation.
