The news began to emerge! The new Disney+ series derived from the Percy Jackson saga had the first name of the cast revealed: Walker Scobellwho will be responsible for bringing the main character to life in the production, as reported by Variety.
The actor, who recently made his screen debut through Netflix’s ‘Project Adam’, is still a child, only 13 years old, just like Percy Jackson in the first book in the franchise entitled ‘The Lightning Thief’.
Furthermore, in early April, Rick Riordan, author of the saga who is also actively participating in the writing of the episodes of the series, informed that they are “very close to having our main trio of Percy, Grover and Annabeth”. Therefore, with confirmation of Scobell to play the demigod, fans won’t have to wait long to have new names announced.
Riordan and Jon Steinberg will be the duo responsible for writing the pilot episode. James Bodin (Alice Through the Looking Glass) will direct.
It is worth remembering that the series was announced in 2020, but was only confirmed by Disney earlier this year due to the long period of negotiations. The new production does not yet have a release date.
