On the night of last Monday, 9, Rom and Vmembers of BTS, were officially dismissed from compulsory military service, after serving for 18 months as a member of the Military Band and Soldier of the Military Police Special Task Force (SDT), respectively.
In their first public appearance, the duo thanked their military colleagues for their time together, offering positive messages to those who are still serving, as well as showing gratitude to the group’s fans, for waiting.
“For me, my time in the army was a time when I could really reflect and recompose my mind and body. Now I feel that I rebuilt myself – physically and mentally – and I look forward to returning to Army as soon as possible,” he said V. “To all the Armys who have awaited me throughout my service, I want to sincerely thank the bottom of my heart. A little more patience and we’ll be back with amazing performances.”
Shortly thereafter, the duo headed for the Hybe building, a conglomerate that houses the company responsible for managing BTS career, BTIs, where they made a live broadcast together to talk a little with the Armys, before they went to their homes, where they opened new individual lives to continue talking to fans.
In its transmission, Romthe group leader, besides commenting on some funny moments of his dismissal, explaining why he chose to play in the saxophone the theme song “Detective Conan”, the star also took the moment to remember the difficulties he faced during the army.
According to the artist, he failed to adapt to the Armed Forces as well as Vand ended up developing severe insomnia due to his strong difficulty sleeping, as he needed to divide the room with 20 more soldiers.
“Last year, the company went through many changes, and around April and May, before the release of ‘RPWP’, I had insomnia. The problem is that in the army you sleep with 20 other guys. They sleep well by your side, snoring and grinding your teeth. So … there was a time when I didn’t even sleep for two days for about 78 hours,” he said. “That was in late April. I mean, there were a lot of things happening out of the base. I remember thinking, ‘Ah, I’m going to die at this pace.’ Like, I have to continue with the daily routine, but I’m sleepless. I was lying down and … those who have insomnia know what I’m talking about. I’m tired, but I just can’t sleep.”
Rom He also stated that, due to stress, bad facilities and lack of sleep, he lived “like a zombie” and had to ask a neuropsychiatrist for help, who prescribed some medications that he takes to this day.
More than that, Idol still commented to fans that while he was in the army, he accepted the fact that he is a sensitive man, but still wondered why he was being “so weak.”
“Not that I had easy life, because I was born a little sensitive. Yeah, I accepted. I accepted the fact that I am sensitive. While I was in the army, I kept wondering, ‘Why are you so weak? That’s what you have? You’ve been through more challenging moments. So … Why do you still lose to things like sleep … or the army …? Mr. Why not? ‘
Finally, before finishing the live, Rom He also expressed his longing for the Armys, saying that he became insecure if he could take the stage again after being dismissed from the army.
He said: “I even thought of training or rehearsing choreographies during the holidays and everything, but I wondered if I could really take the stage again. Because my hyungs and my veterans told me that once there we have to forget who we are out here, in society. I tried, but it was not easy.
