In a recent interview for Vanity Fair, the director of the plot, Jon M. Chuhe revealed that in the new movie Dorothy will be even more mentioned than in the play – where, as explained by the Portal Screenrant, it is purposely kept out of the center of attention and never appears on stage, containing only references to his presence, or being represented in silhouette form.
“That intersection is where we were presented to Oz for the first time. We advance with caution, but we tried to understand how it impacts our girls and characters more than perhaps the series,” said Chu.
However, although Dorothy earns a little more prominent, the filmmaker has assured that she will not steal Elphaba and Glinda’s spotlight, which are the great stars of the franchise: “We are careful,” he said.

Dorothy in “Wicked”
Remember that although not the center of attention, Dorothy still plays an important role in “Wicked”. This is because, after being transported to Oz’s land by a cyclone, his house falls on the East Witch, in this, Elphaba’s sister, and the girl is welcomed by Glinda, who presents her with the deceased witch’s magic shoes and guides her that, to return home, she would need to talk to the wizard of Oz.
Accompanied by new friends, the scarecrow, the tin man and the coward lion, she follows the yellow brick road and, when she meets the magician, receives the mission, to have her desire fulfilled, she would need to take him to Elphaba’s broom.
The girl gets the item when she accidentally melts the witch with a water bucket, which apparently “dies.” The Wiced plot begins exactly after Elphaba’s death thanks to Dorothy, with the number “No One Mourns The Wicked”.
