The real story that inspired ‘landing in love’
As revealed by the production screenwriter, Park Ji Eunto the South Korean TV, the real situation occurred in 2008, with the actress Jung yang “But unlike the drama, the unforeseen real life came after a boat trip, not a paragliding.”
At the time, Jung yang He was sailing in a rented boat with three more friends when they decided to stop on an island for lunch. The problem is that when they decided to resume the way, weather conditions had already worsened, and a dense fog caused them to get lost and stay to drift for about two hours until they could see a small North Korean fishing boat that sailed near the maritime demarcation line between the two Koreas.
However, when they noticed the North Korean accent from the fishermen, they immediately directed the boat in the opposite direction and sent a rescue request to the Coast Guard, being saved by a South Korean Navy ship. Upon arriving on land, the group still had to be questioned by the officers, but were soon released because, as reported by Korea Times in 2008, it was not found that the attitude was an attempt to cross to the north.
When the situation happened, the screenwriter Ji Eun He was working on the script of another drama called “My Wife is a SuperWoman”, and recalled how the incident impacted it.
“When I was planning the drama ‘My Wife is a SuperWoman’ in 2008, as a beginner writer, an actress took a ferry from Inheon and found a wind chain. When she covered the senses, she was on the coast of North Korea, and the North Korean coast guard chased her,” he said. “It was a serious incident that came out on the news. That was when I realized, ‘Is North Korea so close? Is it so close that you can get there without thinking for a second?’ It is a close but forbidden place. ”
Park Ji Eun He concluded by saying, “Besides, the same race of people lives there and says the same language. I thought a story about someone who was forced to land there could be fun.”
“Pressing in Love” is available for streaming on Netflix.
