Last Thursday, 22, the live-action of “Lilo & Stitch” went on in Brazilian theaters to update the Disney classic released in 2002.
With more than two decades of distance between one work and another, and a new format to address the story, it is no surprise that production has gone through some changes to better fit the message that the studio wants to go through today, thus allowing the plot to gain new elements to add a different generation of fans.
With that in mind, Recreio has gathered a list of 5 live-action news-but Careful! There are spoilers about what happens in the new plot; Check it out:
1. Nani has a dream that doesn’t exist in animation
Early in the film, we are presented to a desire for Nani (Sydney Agudong) that does not exist in the animated title. It turns out that in live action, Lilo’s older sister (Maia Kealha) Dreams of studying Marine Biology, and tries to suppress this will so that he can focus on the responsibilities that would remain with his youngest guard after their parents died.
In animation, Nani also tries to nullify an important part of her existence to take care of her sister: love life! This is because, even if she is interested in David, she always diverted from the boy’s charms, revealing she was very busy with the tasks that included the creation of Lilo.
2. Unpublished characters
In the new release, there are two unreleased characters! The first of these also comes in the initial minutes of the plot: Tutu (Amy Hill), which is introduced as a neighbor of the sisters who becomes the duo’s support network after the tragedy that left them orphans. She is part of David’s family (Kaipo Dudoit), but it is not known what the kinship level between them.
There is still Mrs. Kekoa (Aunt Carrere). She, who is a social worker, occupies the place lived in the animation by snake Bubbles, visiting Nani and Lilo to see if the home is suitable for the little girl to live. Including, in live action, bubbles (Courtney B. Vance) Lives his retired profession in the animated plot, as he is a CIA agent who guides a mission to discover the origin of Stitch.
3. Gantu removal

Disney did not justify the removal of the character officially, but there are online assumptions that the change has occurred so as not to further raise the costs of CGI assembly.
4. Change in jumba personality
In this context, who becomes Stitch’s main opponent is his own creator: Jumba scientist Jookiba (ZACH GALIFIANAKIS).
In the history of animation, Jumba comes to Earth next to Pleakley to take Stitch to space again so that he will serve the penalty decreed by the Galactic Federation: living isolated on a desert planet. The scientist begins to pursue the blue alien in an attempt to capture him and, in his final attempt, ends up destroying Nani and Lilo’s house. Still, at the end of the drawing, he can redeem himself, thus becoming part of Lilo’s family.
However, in live action there is no redemption for jumba! After not being able to capture Stitch, he is taken as a prisoner by the Galactic Federation and only Pleakley (Billy Magnussen) is on Earth to ensure that the alien fulfills his new sentence: Living on the third planet closest to the sun with his Ohana (family).
5. Different end for Lilo and Nani
Although the end of Stitch is similar to that of the plot launched over twenty years, in the remake, Lilo and Nani’s conclusion is quite different. It turns out that now Nani does not assume the guard of Lilo. Their neighbor, Tutu, is the one who becomes the nice guide’s guardian so that Nani can move and focus her efforts on becoming a marine biologist.
Thus, the two are living in separate homes-even though the post-credit scene makes it clear that even distant, they have a special way to stay close.
