In the plot, it is possible to follow the exciting history of the university professor who adopts an Akita dog puppy – who becomes his eternal companion. It was always so, until something happens and changes the dynamics that accompanies their relationship.

Starring Richard Gere And released in 2009, the feature film is inspired by a slightly older story that, although similar to fiction, happened green.

The real story that inspired ‘always by your side’

In real life, events took place with the agricultural teacher Hidesaburo ueno and your loyal pet dog, Hachiko.

Their ways intersected shortly after the birth of the dog. It turns out that Hachiko was born in November 1923 in the city of Odate, in the province of Akita, Japan, where the breed that defines him originates – which is even one of the oldest in the country of the East Asian, known for bringing intelligent companions and obedient to owners.

Thus, on January 15, 1924, Uen He became Hachiko’s official owner. On the date, the pet arrived at the teacher’s house in Shibuya in poor condition, so Uen and your wife, YaeThey devoted six months of dog care to make him strong and healthy, as the BBC portal explains.

Curiosity:At the time when it became part of the family of Uenthe dog was called Hachi, which means “eight” in Japanese. The known name would only come later, when the suffix “KO” was added by students of the teacher.

Recovered and integrated with the UenHachiko began to accompany the teacher to Shibuya station, where he took the train to go to work. The dog went to the other two pet dogs Uenand waited on the spot until the owner returned so that they could all go home together – a dynamic that had time to close.

The traumatic event

It turns out that Uen It died on May 21, 1925 after having cerebral hemorrhage. At the time, Hachiko was only 16 months old.

Without the owner, Hachiko went through some temporary homes until he was adopted by the gardener Uen, Kikusaburo Kobayashiin the summer of 1925. Kobayashi He lived near the former residence of the teacher and allowed the dog to perform the act that eternalized him in the memory of all for his loyalty, after all, Hachiko again performed the route he made with Uen Even the station every day, and just as before, it was there until dusk, always attentive to the face of the passengers, as if to seek to see the feature of the one who was his first tutor.

The stations passed, and with them almost a decade was behind us, but regardless of time or weather, Hachiko remained there – which made him gain notoriety, becoming headline of the Japanese newspaper Tokyo Asahi Shimbun in 1932, before gaining space in media vehicles around the world due to his loyalty to the former owner.

As a result, Hachiko became famous. Dear to people from all over the world, the dog began to gain support and was no longer lonely looking for UenAfter all, people came from far away to witness Hachiko’s devotion, while others sent feed donations so that the dog would not be helpless.

More than that, Hachiko has become an inspiration. Poems and Haikus were written in his honor, and in 1934 he won a bronze statue, which is still outside Shibuya station and receives visits from people from all nations.

The eternal legacy

Hachiko waited for 10 years, but died on March 8, 1935. In the funeral were Buddhist monks and a crowd of admirers of the dog’s history, who prayed and paid tribute to the long journey of love that Hachiko lived with Uen.

However, the recognition of Hachiko’s exciting devotion to Ueno was not limited to these acts. Since then, he has gained new statues in Odate, the hometown of Uenas in Hisai, at the University of Tokyo, and Rhode Island, USA, where today’s afternoon session film was shot.

In addition, on the anniversary of the dog’s death there is a ceremony in honor of Hachiko outside Shibuya station, and during the year, the monument is adorned with accessories corresponding to the seasons, making it clear that the legacy of Hachiko’s loyalty is still alive and through time.
