Former participants in the song competition called on the arrangements to remove the Israeli delegation due to the country’s actions related to Palestine.
Around the Eurovision-2025, a powerful scandal exploded: 70 former competition participants signed an open letter, which requires a ban on Israel on the show, held in Sweden this year, reports the Hollywood reporter.
They accused the country of the “Genocide of the Palestinians, the long -term mode of apartheid and the military work.”
“The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has shown that he has been able to take steps when he does not exclude Russia from the competition in 2022. We do not take these double standards for Israel. It cannot be a policy for Russia and is completely different for Israel.
The signatures were made by artists such as Mei Muller (Great Britain, 2023), Charlie McGettigan (Ireland, 1994), Fernando Tordo (Portugal, 1973) and others.
This is not the first request: in early April, 26 members of the European Parliament also appealed to exclude Israel from the Eurovision-2025. However, the European Broadcasting Union denied the request, saying that these actions oppose the values of the competition.
Earlier it was reported that the Ziferblat Group, which this year represents Ukraine in Eurovision, conducted a second training in its number in the main phase of the competition.
