Why is Blackpink’s Jennie album called ‘Ruby’?

The singer recently revealed to Clash Music magazine about the personal meaning behind ‘Ruby’ and how the name reflects deep aspects of her identity.

According to the artist, the title of the album originates in the name Jennie Ruby Janechosen by her during her childhood while studying in New Zealand. At the time, the choice was motivated by the desire to have a longer name, like those of classmates. However, over the years, the nickname has gained a new meaning in its trajectory.

“Rubis symbolizes courage, resilience and strength, qualities I have and try to live according to everyday life,” he said Jennie.
