The city’s first school will reject the AS Pushkin name. The plaque has been removed from the building.

In Mukachevo, a bust monument of Russian poet Alexander Pushkin was demolished, and a memorial plaque was removed from the school bearing his name. This was reported by the City Council on Facebook.

It was noted that this decision was made at a meeting of the executive committee to carry out de-Russification activities in connection with the Russian military aggression against Ukraine.

“Mukachevo removed the Russian-imperial past. The city administration was ordered to ensure the demolition of monuments and memorial landmarks. Yesterday, the bust of Pushkin and the memorial plaque from school No. 1 were already demolished. The utility company has been instructed to ensure their storage, ”the statement said.

It was also noted that the city’s first school will reject the AS Pushkin name. Currently, the Department of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports is handling the procedure for abandoning the previously designated name of a legal entity.

Recall that the new issue of the Ukrainian version of men’s Playboy magazine focuses on the war unleashed by Russia.
