After a day of the official debut of Minecraft’s first live-action, “a Minecraft movie” broke the game-inspired movie box office record
The awaited “Minecraft movie”, adaptation of the iconic video game game, is already starting to break records on the ticket offices, even before the end of its first full day of display. Directed by JARED HESS and starring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers and Sebastian Hansenthe feature, which premiered last Thursday, 3, reached the largest number of pre-sale tickets from any 2025 PG (General Public) classification movie.
According to information from Deadline, the film raised $ 10.55 million (at the current price, about $ 61.5 million) at the box office on launch day, establishing the best totalization total for a video game adaptation, surpassing the previous record of “Five Nights at Freddy’s”, which had sold about $ 10.3 million (approximately $ 60.1 million) in 2023.
Despite the historical feat, it is noteworthy that “Super Mario Bros. The Movie”, the holder of the highest box office video game of all time, with $ 1.362 billion (approximately $ 7.9 billion) collected globally, had no previous display, as it debuted on Wednesday, on 5 April 2023. The film is available in Prime Video.

The story of “A Minecraft Movie” follows four unlikely characters who, after crossing a mysterious portal, end up in Overworld, a cubic world full of exotic creatures and deadly challenges. To survive in this dangerous environment, they will have the help of a skilled specialized craftsman who will take the group’s leadership.
Although live-action brings an original narrative, the film will be full of references to the game, with the presence of iconic figures such as Nether, Creepers, Ghasts, Piglins and Skeletons. And, of course, the legendary Steve, character created by Markus Persson In 2009, which remains the classic players skin, it will also be present.
The film is playing in all theaters in Brazil.
