To better understand the backstage of the Brazilian voice acting, Recreio talked with Fernando Mendonça (Frank’s voice), Carol Valença (Vonessa Voice) and the voice acting director Rodrigo Andreatto, Also responsible for dubbing ‘Fun Mind 2’ to discover the challenges and curiosities of the process.

Frank is one of the most striking characters in the series, bringing with it a lot of emotion. To interpret this role, Fernando He decided not to create a new voice, but to use his own, transmitting truth to the character. He also points out that the character is very rich, whose voice carries doubt, insecurity and, at the same time, strength and firmness.

“This type of character requires a very well -known level of sensitivity from the actor. To bring Frank to life, I sought not to create a voice, but to use my own as naturally as possible. With that, I can carry all the feelings needed to bring truth and not sound caricature.”

In addition, the character’s journey brings a great lesson to the audience, so the voice actor, who also lent his voice to the interpretation of shame in ‘Fun Mind’, reported the expectation that the public “learn to play on life opportunities,” emphasizing that “the fear of losing is sometimes” the fear of losing. ”

Another highlight of the series is Vanessa, a solo mother who balances the challenges of personal life with the support of her daughter’s team. Carol Valençaalso known for giving voice to Luffy de One Piece, developed Vanessa’s tone based on the original performance and the details of the animation. She explains that the work of the voice actress of the original language, coupled with the elements of the animation, provided a solid base so that, together with the director Andreattocould work on the nuances and personality of the character.

“The voice of Vanessa walks through various shades, volumes and intensities, giving dynamism to a character whose characteristic is to assume different ways to handle the issues of life and the challenge of being a solo mother,” said the voice actor.

The actress also highlighted the big technical challenge by playing Vanessa since she is a busy character, who “speaks fast, then speaks low, then speaks loudly, then laughs, then shouts, then imitates a different way of talking, all sometimes, in the same scene almost without breathing”, making Carol Had to rehearse the scenes to “put on” the character, making the experience totally immersive to the viewers.

Rodrigo Andreattovoice acting director of the Brazilian version of the series, commented on how the choice of voices was a thorough process, explaining that the voice actors’ selection follows specific criteria and tests, with at least three actors or actresses for each character, one of them what they call “match vocal”, which consists of choosing the voice more like that of the original language, taking into account timbre, age group, and other aspects.

Maintaining the essence of the work for the Brazilian public was another major challenge, according to the director. The team had to balance loyalty to the original script with adaptations that made sense culturally.

“We are trying to find equivalences in each expression and also put a Brazilian chirp when it does not interfere with the original work. There is a whole team involved in this process, and decisions are always discussed to get the best result in an adaptation.”

The episodes of “win or lose” can be found in the Disney+catalog.
