‘Memories of a Caracol’ wins debut date in Brazil

The animation indicated for Oscar and Golden Globe, ‘Memories of a Caracol’, gained a release date on Brazilian big screen; Check it out!

Animation enthusiasts already have a new reason to mark the calendar! On May 1st, there is the Brazilian cinemas ‘Memories of a Caracol’work in Stop-Motion directed by the Australian filmmaker Adam Elliot. The film was nominated for Oscar 2025 in the best animation category, and promises to thrill the audience with a delicate story about resilience and friendship.

About the Movie

Set in the 1970s Australia, the feature follows the journey of Grace Pudel, a lone girl who finds comfort in her collection of ornamental snails and love for books. Grace’s childhood is marked by the early loss of the mother and a disrupted family environment. After the death of the paraplegic and alcoholic father, Percy, she and her twin brother, Gilbert, are separated and sent to distinct adoptive homes. While the brother faces difficulties in an oppressive religious environment, Grace plunges into a life of isolation and sadness.

The protagonist’s melancholy routine changes when she meets Pinky, an eccentric elderly and full of energy, making the unexpected friendship between the two become a refuge for the young woman, who slowly rediscovers the joy of living and hope on better days. The connection between them is the strong point of the narrative, bringing moments of emotion, humor and reflection.

The cast’s cast brings together big names, including Sarah Snookknown for his work in ‘Succession’, which lends his voice to the protagonist Grace. Kodi smit-mcphee (Dog attack) interprets Gilbert, while Jacki Weaver (The good side of life) gives life to Pinky. The film also has the participation of Eric Bana, Magda Szubanski, Dominique Pinon And even the musician Nick Cave.

Adam Elliotknown for his work in ‘Harvie Krumpet’, which earned him an Oscar in 2004, reaffirms his work even though he had not taken the statuette in 2025, which was the Letã Flow animation.
