Malta in Eurovision-2025 will be presented by singer Mirian Comte with the song Kant, but his participation in the question.
Malta has decided on her Eurovision -2025 representative – the winner of the national selection is Mirian Comte with the song Kant.
However, the track caused misunderstandings because of its name, which could create problems with the UK and other countries.
According to Times Malta, the word “Kant”, which in Maltese means “singing”, sounds like English obscene “CNT”*, which can be a problem for broadcasters. BBC Radio 2 host Scott Mills said the British TV channel could refuse to show clip:
“We can’t talk about the Malta song, and he certainly can’t show his video in the BBC air,” Mills said.
In the UK, an offom is engaged in broadcasting, considering the word “CNT”* one of the most offensive and prohibits it in the air until 21:00. The text of the song also has the phrase “Delivery of Kant”, which, according to some media, can be sent to quir- and drag-culture and contains a double meaning.
Mirian Comte himself emphasized that his song and clip were courageous and confused, but they acted as they did.
The European Language Union (EBU) approved the lyrics, however, if the pressure from the broadcasters intensified, Malt could replace the composition.
