What is the origin of the white witch?

In 1950, exactly 75 years ago, the Irish author CS Lewis He launched the first of the seven books of “The Chronicles of Narnia”, one of the most popular franchises in children’s literature: “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”

In “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”, we follow the adventures of brothers Pedro, Susana, Edmundo and Lucia Pevensie, who will end up in the fantastic world of Narnia after finding a secret passage in a magical wardrobe. There, the quartet will need to help the people defeat the dreaded Jadis, the White Witch, who self -proclaimed Queen and placed the kingdom in an eternal winter.

But how did Jadis come about?

First of all, it is important to remember that in the universe created by CS LewisIn addition to Narnia and our universe, there are also other parallel worlds, with one of them being the world of Charn, responsible for inhabiting a country and city of the same name.

In the city of Charn, besides being the house for a huge variety of beings, his nobility was composed of a peculiar species of humanoids, hybrid giants and jinns (extremely intelligent magical beings with unusual beauty, descendants of Lilith,,, descendants, descendants, descendants, descendants Adam’s first wife), in which Jadis was part.

Although there is no information in the book about the white witch’s past, we know that when she still lived in Charn, the character decided to follow a different way from the rest of the nobility. This is because, in that world, as its race was considered the most powerful in the region, none was interested in developing its magic – less Jadis, who always cared to know various types of magic.

After getting involved with the arts of darkness and developing her skills, she discovered an ancient spell kept secret by her ancestors known as “the exhaustable word,” capable of destroying all living beings of a world but the one who conjured him.

As an adult woman, Jadis had to compete for the Queen’s title against her sister, where the two waged a difficult battle that initially promised not to use any kind of magic. However, the witch states that her sister broke her promise, causing her to be forced to use the exemable word spell, becoming Charn’s only survivor.

Alone in that world, the white witch launched a spell under herself to preserve her body turning into a statue located in front of the palace next to her ancestors, where she would only be awakened when any other being arrived there and playing a bell so that She returned her life – which happened thousands of years later with the passage of Digory and Polly, the first children to visit this universe.

After awakening and meeting the little ones, Jadis convinces them that their passage was not accidental, and that young people would have been sent only to “save it”, and forces the duo to take them to André, Uncle de Digory who created the magical rings that led them to the new dimension. Children bring her to Earth, but without imagining that the villain had actually started a new plan to become Queen of the New World.

Arriving in England, the witch creates chaos with theft and aggression, even using a pole to protect herself from the police. Before things got worse, Polly and Digory can take her back to the woods between worlds, a kind of passage that connects different universes.

Due to the confusion, the children also accidentally ended up carrying three more living beings: Uncle André, a cacheter named Franco and his strawberry horse. In the woods, as they tried to direct Jadis to the entrance of Charn, the horse drinks the water of another portal, taking the six to an empty world that was about to be created: Narnia.

As they closely followed the powerful Aslan lion to create the entire magical universe, the white witch is bothered by her demonstration of power and tries to prevent him from continuing, casting the light pole she had stolen on Earth in order to hurt the animal- Something that doesn’t work, causing her to run away and become the first big danger of Narnia.
