A singer who survived a horrific attack at the Nova festival will represent Israel at the competition in Basel.
24-year-old Yuval Rafael has become Israel’s official representative at Eurovision 2025.
She won the popular talent show HaKokhav HaBa (Next Star), impressing the judges and the audience with an emotional performance of ABBA’s Dancing Queen. He dedicated his performance to the “angels” who died in the tragic Hamas attack on the Nova Festival in 2023.
“I can’t explain how excited and ready I am, thank you for giving me the great honor and entrusting me to represent my country on the big stage of Eurovision in Switzerland,” said the singer after her victory.
It is known that during the attack on the festival he spent more than eight hours in a bomb shelter under the bodies of the dead. Out of over 40 people in the room, only 11 survived.
“I want to tell them the story of the country, what I went through, what others went through. I want to tell it, but not in the place of looking for repentance. I want him to be strong in the face of this, and in the face of the outcry, which, I am 100% sure, will be heard from the crowd,” said Rafael.
Yuval will present the song for the competition in March 2025. His performance promises to be an emotional and powerful message of hope, resilience and unity in the face of adversity.
It was previously reported that Moldova will not participate in this year’s international Eurovision Song Contest.
