With no new projects since 2022, GOT7 returned with the release of an album consisting of 8 new songs; see what each of them are!
You knew? GOT7 went almost 3 years without a new release! But the drought that the Ahgase’s [fandom do GOT7] faced came to an end this Monday, 20th, with the release of “WINTER HEPTAGON”, the new album that features the voices of Mark, Jay B, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam and Yugyeom.
The album is now available on the main audio streaming platforms, and was revealed alongside the MV for the title track “PYTHON”, where the septet brings in the lyrics the revelation of an unrequited passion and the difficulty of ending the relationship when they already have the your feelings dominated by the loved one.
But, in addition to “PYTHON”, the new project features 8 more new tracks — among them, a song dedicated entirely to the group’s fans.
What are the songs on “WINTER HEPTAGON”?
The songs on “WINTER HEPTAGON” are:
- “PYTHON”, whose track features the voices of all members;
- “TIDAL WAVE”, sung by BamBam;
- “SMOOTH”, whose interpretation was in charge of Jackson;
- “Youth Drama” by Youngjae;
- “I’ll Remember”, which features vocals from Yugyeom;
- “Darling”, by the leader Jay B (also known as Def.);
- “OUT THE DOOR”, sung by Mark;
- “her” from Jinyoung;
- “The Words We Can Say”, fan song composed by Jay B.
The tracks can be heard live at the special show “NESTFESZ”, which will take place on the 1st and 2nd of February at the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea, and should have the second day broadcast on the Beyond LIVE platform, allowing fans from all over the world can follow.
What was GOT7’s previous release?
Until the arrival of the new album, the self-titled album “GOT7” had been the group’s most recent release, which arrived on music streaming platforms in May 2022 with the MV for the title-track “NANANA”, as well as 5 more tracks.
“GOT7” was the seven members’ first album together after leaving JYP Entertainment, the agency through which the group debuted in 2014 and remained until February 19, 2021. They acquired the right to trademark the formation’s name and debuted outside the management of JYP a day later, with the release of the single “Encore”, distributed by Warner Music Korea.
Why did GOT7 take so long to make a comeback?
After the promotional activities for “GOT7”, the septet had a new focus. This is because, in addition to releasing solo releases — such as “Magic Man”, by Jackson“TPO”, from Youngjae“BAMESIS”, by BamBamamong others —, some members of the group joined the army to fulfill the mandatory military enlistment for South Korean men.
The members who were in the Armed Forces were: Jay Bwho began his military service on February 2, 2023, ending it on November 1, 2024, and Jinyoungan idol who enlisted on May 8, 2023, and was discharged from the army on November 7, 2024. Youngjae andYugyeom — who revealed that he is due to join the army later this year — still need to enlist. Already Mark, Jackson and BamBam They do not need to carry out military activities because they are foreigners.
