That year, Girls’ Generation was scheduled to make its new release on February 19th, however, five days before the scheduled date, the South Korean press announced that the expected return could be postponed, after the original music video file was released. corrupted.
In a statement to the Osen News portal (via Soompi), a representative from SM Entertainment stated that “Some of the data has been damaged. We are in the recovery process. We are discussing the return schedule before making a decision.”
Due to this incident, the group had to record the clip again, taking advantage of scenes from moments that were only supposed to appear in promotional teasers, but ended up being included in the final version. As a result, the comeback ended up being postponed for two weeks, so the company could finish the new music video.
After the release of the new version, Sooyoung said in an interview with Billboard that “Our new music video has the concept of encouraging and increasing the confidence of those men who have lost their courage. We won video of the year at the YouTube Music Awards last year. In gratitude for receiving such an incredible award and so much love, we worked really hard this time too.”
Jessica Jung’s departure
After the controversy of the loss of the MV, and dating rumors involving Yuri, Tiffany, Taeyeon and Sooyoungin September 2014 Girls’ Generation was also the target of yet another controversy: the sudden departure of Jessica Jungshortly after renewing his contract with SM Entertainment.
Through a post on Weibo, Jessica wrote that she “was excited about our upcoming fan events only to be shockingly informed by my company and the other 8 [integrantes] that as of today, I am no longer a member. I am devastated — my priority and love is to serve as a member of the GG, but for no justifiable reason, I am being forced to leave.”
SM commented on the matter moments later through a note, which said:
“Despite Jessica’s sudden warning, the agency and Girls’ Generation members did the best they could and tried to figure out a way for Girls’ Generation’s activities to continue in the best possible direction.”
