Find out which drama actor has stood out in South Korea in recent years who turned down roles in ‘Round 6’ on two occasions
With the release of the second season of ‘Round 6’, fans are preparing to dive once again into the tense and unpredictable universe of the series that conquered the world. New characters and plots are ready to intertwine with the already known story, promising more excitement and surprises. But do you know who was considered to play the role of Cho Sangwoo, now played by Park Hae Soo?
According to a source close to Son Suk Gu (via Koreaboo), the actor was asked to play the role of Cho Sangwoo when he was still part of his former agency. However, after long deliberation, the star decided to turn down the role.
“At that time, Son and his agency were interested in the series, but didn’t know it would explode so much. I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t regret it after the first season became a worldwide hit, but I remember thinking there was an actor for every role,” said the acquaintance close to the actor.
Furthermore, the source points out that Son Suk Gu “Although he had every intention of appearing, after receiving the script, the main roles had already been somewhat confirmed,” the source revealed.
This is because the casting of actors Im Siwan and Kang Haneul was already practically closed, which raised concerns about the amount of screen time and the main plot. Furthermore, Son was scheduled to film for the Disney+ drama ‘Casino’, which made his participation even more difficult.
In a variety show appearance in 2021, Son Suk Gu commented on the series:
“From a director’s perspective, the show feels very fresh. Unlike the typical death game of killing each other, it was moving to see a scenario of team building and working together,” he said at the time.
Son Suk Guwho began his career in 2014, has stood out in several roles that show his versatility and skill as an actor, being known for playing complex and deep characters. The actor has participated in productions such as ‘Matrimonial Chaos’ (2018); ‘Sense8’ (2017), a Netflix series in which Detective Mun played in the second season; ‘The Roundup’ (2022); and most recently in the k-drama ‘My Liberations Notes’ (2022), which won the “Brand of the Year Awards” for best actor of 2022.
