This week, during Christmas Eve, funeral wreaths were placed in front of the HYBE conglomerate building, containing calls for the removal of the leader of ENHYPEN, Jungwonof the group.
According to information shared by the AllKpop portal, South Korean internet users point out that the flowers were sent by Chinese fans of the boy group, who were dissatisfied with the dating rumors involving the artist that spread across the internet earlier this month.
On the crowns, you can see phrases like: “Dating skills? High class! Fan betrayal? World class!”, “Betrayal to fans, daze daze daze. Arrogant lies, live replay, play play”, “It’s all your fault… How can God help with this?”, “Lying is part of the entertainment industry now? The fans didn’t know.”, among others. According to internet users, the flowers were removed on the same day.
Just this week, ENHYPEN’s Chinese fanbase organized a mass sending of emails to HYBE asking for ENHYPEN’s official departure. Jungwonstating that the recent situation “has greatly disappointed and angered fans, especially the Chinese, in addition to declaring that, if the demands were not met, fans in China would no longer support the group.
“If your company does not handle the matter in a satisfactory and timely manner, we will be forced to continue our protest in various ways through different platforms. If the issue is not resolved reasonably, Chinese fans will not be able to continue to support the group. If If we do not receive a response to our demands, we will permanently cease our support of ENHYPEN, including future album sales and related activities,” reads part of the email sent to HYBE (via Koreaboo).
It is worth remembering that rumors that Jungwon would be involved with Wintera member of aespa, were denied by the companies of both artists, BeLift Lab and SM Entertainment, respectively, in addition to the singer himself, who performed a live on December 12 stating that he was not dating, and that the person responsible for spreading the rumor mill would “deal with the consequences.”
Through social media, international ENHYPEN fans have started a campaign with the hashtag “#PROTECTJUNGWON” to ask the company to intensify the idol’s protection against recent attacks, in addition to showing support for his stay in the group.
