Remember ‘My Santa Claus 2’, Disney’s classic Christmas film

How about a nostalgia movie for Christmas Eve? Revisit the story of ‘My Santa Claus 2’, a feature film released by Disney in 2002

Being Santa Claus is getting harder and harder. As if having to make mountains of gifts and deliver them all in one night wasn’t enough, he has to worry about his son’s education and plan meetings with friendly candidates for Mrs. Claus. At least that’s the life of the good old man in “My Santa Claus 2”, a Disney film available on Disney Plus and Prime Video streaming. This Christmas comedy shows a different Santa Claus, who recently took charge of the North Pole and is divided between Christmas work and routine.

In addition to the touches of humor, the story has a lot of magic. The city of elves, where Santa Claus lives, is hidden under an ice dome and seems like something out of a dream. The colorful toy factory has everything we would like to have. Reindeer fly and speak a language that almost no one knows.

Another Santa Claus?

This Santa Claus still has special powers, but not for long. One of his assistants, the elf Curtis, discovered at the last minute an important clause in the good old man’s employment contract. He must get married by next Christmas (which is right around the corner!), otherwise he will lose his magic, change his appearance and be out of a job.

To make matters worse, Santa Claus discovers that one of the children who hadn’t behaved well during
the year is Charlie, his own son who lives in the outside world. The boy is making a real
campaign against Christmas.

This all means that Santa Claus has just a few days to help his son, find a nice wife and finish the preparations for delivering the gifts. If you don’t succeed, every child on the planet will be disappointed at the end of the year.

But how can you be in the secret city of the North Pole and in the real world at the same time? Only with a clone. And this is exactly the idea of the elf Curtis, who with his 900 years of experience creates a
toy just like Santa Claus to trick the elves and keep them working while the original goes away.

But little by little the copy of the old man develops its own personality and becomes very strange. Instead of helping, she ends up getting in the way… Yet another problem for Santa Claus to solve. Will he
it achieves? The Christmas of children around the world depends on it.

The beginning of everything

The film is a sequel to Meu Santa É Noel, which premiered in 1994 and is available on streaming services
also. The first film explains how an accident turned Scott Calvin, a toy factory executive, into Santa Claus.

In the story, Scott tries to convince his son, then 8 years old, that the good old man really exists. But he couldn’t have imagined that he would end up taking on the role of Noel and even changing his appearance.

Heavy work

The look of the film is really cool. The city of elves seems to have come out of a fairy tale. In addition
of things that exist anywhere, such as a bakery, shoe store, square and skating rink, it has a special attraction: a large toy workshop.

To create the city, they created immense scenes full of details. They were invited about
of 250 children, equipped with pointy ears, to play the elves. The friendly and chatty ones
Reindeer are a mix of robot dolls and computer-created images.

Watching the film you will imagine how difficult it must be to work as Santa Claus. And it’s not easy to play this type of character either.

To look chubby and bearded, actor Tim Allen needed a lot of makeup. He spent hours adhering pieces of rubber and foam to his body and face. Then he got a wig, a beard
and white eyebrows. And then I put on my Santa Claus clothes and faced the heat of the studios
of filming. Luckily for the actor, throughout the story Santa Claus loses a little weight.
