NewJeans’ new profile on social media marks the end of the link between the quintet and their former agency, ADOR; see fan reactions
Surprising fans, the members of the girl group NewJeans created a new Instagram account, under the username “jeanzforfree”. The profile was opened last Saturday, the 14th, now separating the group’s personal posts with those linked to the official page managed by ADOR.
They created mysterious posts, fueling fans’ curiosity. To confirm their identity, NewJeans made a post in story format, showing the members and announcing that they would now be officially using the account. Since then, the page has been updated frequently, keeping fans connected and engaged.
The quintet’s first publication was a statement about them having prepared pre-paid food in several restaurants and cafes throughout the capital for fans who were participating in the protests in favor of the impeachment of the now former president of South Korea, Yoon SukYeolafter the same, less than two weeks, decree (and then revoke) martial law in the country. The population used lightsticks from different K-pop groups to support the demonstration, which was the condition for receiving food provided by NewJeans at the establishments.
For many fans, the new account represents a fresh start in a new phase of their careers. The profile, which already has more than 2.7 million followers, draws the attention of internet users due to the name used, leaving the doubt as to whether this would be a proposal for a new name for the quintet, as the singers will no longer be able to use the name “NewJeans “, despite vehemently stating that they will fight in court to remain with their brand.
It is worth remembering that this name change comes after the termination of the exclusive contract between NewJeans and the companies ADOR and HYBE, on November 29th.

looking at new jeans’ new Instagram I was thinking “so this is how idols would post stories if they weren’t afraid of the company’s opinion and haters?”
