The long list of contenders for the Oscars includes three films that reflect modern realities and the unique history of our country.

The American Film Academy has published a long list of candidates for the prestigious Oscar 2025. This information was confirmed by the press service of the State Cinema Committee of Ukraine.

The official list of 169 films includes three Ukrainian films.

The long list includes:

  • La Palisade – director Philip Sotnichenko. The film takes us back to 1996, when Ukraine was just beginning its journey as an independent state. The plot revolves around a detective and a forensic psychiatrist investigating the mysterious murder of a police officer.

  • Porcelain War is a film about Kharkov ceramic artists who stayed in their city during the war. Heroes resist fear and enemy aggression, preserving art and humanity.

  • Peaceful people – director Oksana Karpovich. The film combines radio intercepts of conversations between Russian occupiers and families with visual depictions of the devastation brought about by the war.

The 2025 Oscars will take place on March 3 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

It was previously reported that Conan O’Brien will host the Oscars for the first time in his career.

It is already known which film will represent Ukraine at the 2025 Oscars
