After an article exposed images taken by paparazzi of NewJeans members, the group’s fans again sued HYBE, Source Music and Dispatch
It was announced this Monday, 2nd, that the Bunnies, fandom of the girl group NewJeans, took legal action against HYBE Corporation, Source Music and Dispatch, after the media outlet made public a report incriminating the former CEO Min Hee Jin, in which he exposes images of the quintet members obtained through paparazzi harassment.
In the lawsuit filed at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, South Korea, the complaint was filed for violation of the Personal Information Protection Law and the Information and Communication Network Law, requesting that the three parties be held responsible for leakage information and defamation.
The legal representative of the fans, Lee Hyun Konreports:
“Although HYBE is the parent company of ADOR, it cannot illegally collect and leak personal information about its subsidiaries’ CEO and artists or leak confidential information acquired for business to third parties, and this is the same for Source Music, another subsidiary of HYBE. Furthermore, Internet creators who illegally received personal information collected and leaked as above, created content and spread malicious comments about NewJens, are worsening the damage, greatly damaging NewJeans’ reputation.”
Dispatch had also published private online conversations of Min Hee Jinshared with ADOR executives and personal colleagues, in addition to stating that the former creative director tried to remove NewJeans from Source Music in an immoral way.
The lawyer Lee completed regarding the conversation exhibition:
“If the leaked Kakao Talk conversations were provided internally within the company, including to HYBE’s public relations team, this is a serious leak of personal information, and the act of writing an article knowing this intention may also be illegal.”
The Bunnies community has reinforced that they will continue to report and prosecute malicious posts and articles related to NewJeans.
It is worth remembering that in September the fandom sued HYBE Corporation, Dispatch and Source Music for alleged information leaks and defamation.
