One of the great mysteries of the plot of ‘Wicked’ is revealed in the musical only at the end of the second act of the show; find out who it is!
Last week, the long-awaited first part of “Wicked” arrived in world cinemas, the film responsible for adapting the renowned Broadway musical of the same name, and which features Ariana Grande in the role of Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, and Cynthia Erivo bringing Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, to life.
With just a few days of release, the production is already a box office success. In the United States, after just the first weekend, it has already grossed US$114 million, according to information from Variety, becoming the third biggest debut of 2024 in the country.
In Brazil, “Wicked” occupies third place among the highest box office, grossing R$ 7.8 million in its debut. The film is behind “I’m Still Here”, a national film starring the actress Fernanda Torres.
Due to its enormous success, in addition to thousands of fans of the Broadway musical securing their seats in the cinema to watch the adaptation, the film has also attracted a new audience, who did not get to watch the show on stage — whether in New York, or in its various adaptations around the world, including in Brazilian lands, where the protagonists were played by Fabi Bang and Myra Ruiz.
As a result, right at the beginning of the film, a great mystery related to Elphaba is revealed, which is only solved at the end of the second act of the play, and should only be revealed in the second part of the film: after all, who is Elphaba’s real father? ?

In the original story, the identity of the progenitor is revealed at the end of the second act, after the “death” of the Wicked Witch of the West and Dorothy’s return to Kansas, the moment in which “The Wizard of Oz” ends. In “Wicked”, after this event, Glinda ends up finding the famous hat that her former friend wore, accompanied by a green elixir identical to the same bottles that the powerful Wizard of Oz has, coming to the conclusion that he is Elphaba’s real father. .
