The Minecraft universe is about to get an unprecedented theme park after a million-dollar partnership between Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments
UNPRECEDENTED! The Minecraft universe will gain exclusive themed parks and activations around the world after Mojang Studios, the game’s developer, announced a partnership with Merlin Entertainments, starting with the United Kingdom and the United States.
The parks and activations will feature Minecraft-themed installations, rides, food, drinks and plenty of exciting attractions for those who enjoy them. The companies still intend to implement the game’s adventures in spaces, to make the experience for fans more immersive.
The project will involve an investment of around 85 million dollars from Merlin Entertainments for the first two parks, which are scheduled to open in 2026 and 2027. Their locations have not yet been revealed.
Minecraft on the rise: film and series on the way
In addition to constant updates to the game, Mojang will also release the feature film “A Minecraft Movie”, which will feature the cast Jason Momoa (Garrett arrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison), Jack Black (Steve), Emma Myers Natalie (Natalie), Jennifer Coolidge, Danielle Brooks (Dawn) and Sebastian Eugene Hansen (Henry). Youtubers who produce game content will also have a special participation in the production.
The film tells the story of four misfits who are teleported to the Overworld, the cube-shaped world in which imagination predominates. The four characters enter a magical portal and are taken to a land full of dangers and bizarre and evil creatures and to return to the real world they will have to dominate the Overworld with the help of builder Steve (Jackblack), discovering essential survival skills to return to normal life.
“A Minecraft Movie”, directed by Jared Hess, its release date is scheduled for April 3, 2025. In celebration of 15 years of Minecraft, Netflix also plans to produce a series about the most purchased game in the world, with new characters bringing another vision to fans, it will be directed by WildBrain studio.
