A biopic about Kazimir Malevich will reveal unknown pages of his work. The film will be released in Ukrainian distribution in the spring of 2025.
Director Daria Onishchenko presented the first official trailer for the biographical film Malevich, which tells about the life of the outstanding avant-garde artist Kazimir Malevich. The film will be screened on November 1 at the 53rd Molodist Film Festival.
The film covers the main milestones of Malevich’s early work, starting with the 0.10 exhibition in St. Petersburg, the period of his teaching at the Vitebsk Art School and ending with the time when the artist worked at the Art Institute.
Particular attention is paid to how Malevich presented the Holodomor in his works, the consequences he saw during artistic expeditions to Ukrainian villages. In the film, historical events are intertwined with the events of the current Russian-Ukrainian war, which began in 2014, thus highlighting in a special way the struggle of Ukrainians for national identity.
Malevich will be released in Ukrainian cinemas in the spring of 2025.
