The celebrity is returning to the big screen after a seven-year hiatus to star in his son Ronan’s directorial debut.

The famous British actor Daniel Day-Lewis, a three-time Oscar winner, has announced his return to cinema after a seven-year hiatus.

In 2017, he announced his retirement, explaining his decision by fatigue from publicity and continuous film production. His last work was an Oscar nomination for his role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film Phantom threads.

According to Variety, Day-Lewis’ surprise return includes his son Ronan Day-Lewis making his directorial debut in the film Anemone. Daniel agreed to star in this project and also co-wrote the script. While plot details are being kept under wraps, it is known that the film will explore the complex relationships between parents, children, and siblings, as well as family ties.

The film was produced by Focus Features. Its director Peter Kujawski said it was a great honor to work with Ronan and Daniel, and expressed hope for the film’s success at the international box office.

It was previously reported that actress Evangeline Lilly has announced her retirement after 20 years of acting in television series and movies.
