Find out what ingredients are used in the ‘Ratatouille’ recipe

Learn how to make a delicious Ratatouille, a signature dish from the Pixar film made by the adorable little mouse Remy

One of the most memorable moments in Pixar’s animation “Ratatouille” is when the protagonist Remy decides to cook the dish that has the same name as the film for a renowned food critic.

Ratatouille is a classic French recipe and is typical of the Provence region. According to some records, French farmers and peasants created the recipe because they needed to use up ripe vegetables. The name means “to chop” or “to crush.”

But do you know exactly what goes into the recipe? Recreio has brought you the ingredients and how to prepare the dish, so you can make it and see if it’s as good as they say in the movie. Check it out:

First of all: always ask an adult for help when using the oven and sharp objects, such as a knife!

You will need:

  • 2 zucchinis
  • 2 eggplants
  • 2 onions
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 1 red pepper
  • olive oil to taste
  • rosemary to taste
  • garlic to taste
  • basil to taste
  • salt to taste
  • bay leaf to taste
  • tomato sauce

How to make:

1. Cut the vegetables into thin slices without the seeds

2. Cover the bottom of a pan with tomato sauce.

3. Assemble the vegetables in the pan, alternating the vegetables

4. Crush the garlic and spread it on top. Add salt and rosemary to taste.

5. Drizzle with olive oil and cover with parchment paper or aluminum foil.

6. Leave in the oven for 40 minutes, at a temperature between 180º and 200º.

The official synopsis of the animation: “Remy lives in Paris and has a sophisticated palate. His dream is to become a chef and enjoy the various works of culinary art. The only problem is that he is a mouse. When he finds himself inside one of the finest restaurants in Paris, Remy decides to make his dream come true”. Check out the trailer.
